Camphor Muscle Soothing Cream
This is a lovely light cream which is good for sore, tired muscles, and works especially well with cold, chilled muscles that are so common over the winter months.
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 2 tsp beeswax pellets
- 5 drops camphor oil
- 5 drops peppermint essential oil
- 5 drops eucalyptus essential oil
Start by melting the coconut oil and beeswax together. You can do this in the microwave, but I prefer to use a double boiler. Stir well.Next, allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes. Then add the camphor crystals or oil, the menthol crystals or oil, and the eucalyptus essential oil.Stir again. Pour the mixture into a container with an airtight lid, and allow it to cool completely.
Scoop some of the cream out of the container and apply it to the site of any aches and pains. The warmth of your skin will heat up the cream, making it nice and spreadable.
In Thailand and surrounding countries it has been used as a key ingredient in a balm, and gently massaged over sore muscles, or wounds, to decrease swelling, and clear up infections. Unlike other kinds of balm, it is not known to irritate the skin. Check out our Thai Turmeric Balm http://praniwellnessdaylesford.com/thai-herbal-healing-balm-wild-turmeric-plai/
